Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. -Isaiah 46:9-10
God does exactly as he pleases. You can't force his hand. You can't sit on his lap and ask for a pony. You can't appease him with your sacrifices, your worship or your gifts. He always has and always will do exactly what HE wants to do.
Does this sound a little selfish to you? Maybe you should see what pleased God in the Bible, to get a better idea of what pleases him today. I think you'll find it's actually an act of love!
